San Paolo, ciclo di incontri su autrici italiane
San Paolo, ciclo di incontri su autrici italiane

The Italian Cultural Institute in São Paulo has organized a series of meetings on authors of Italian literature. The first meeting is scheduled for 8 March 2022 and will deal with “Women in the Middle Ages”.

The event, curated by Valentina Cantori, is called “Ripensare il canone: scrittrici italiane dalle origini al XX secolo” [Rethinking the standards: Italian writers from the origins until the 20th century] and aims to present to the Brazilian public, little-known and acknowledged artists of prose and poetry, often relegated to the margins of literature. Retrieving the works of writers who influenced Italian and European culture is key to reconsidering the panorama of the history of literature, art, and thought, highlighting their important contributions.

Among the main topics for the meetings (the last one is scheduled for 26 April), which will be held on the Zoom platform in Portuguese, there are: “The Renaissance and court”, “Matilde Serao and the women of her time”, “A woman: Sibilla Aleramo”, “The body of words: poetry by Amelia Rosselli”.

Free entrance. The deadline for registration is 3 March 2022.
