On 17 February, the Italian Cultural Institute, in association with the Italian Consulate General of Shanghai, will put on a concert to launch the “Italian, the language of opera: music, arias and classics“ programme at the Tri space in Shanghai with the intention of celebrating the Italian opera tradition in China. “Belcanto“ has always been the most natural way to promote the Italian language and its musicality throughout the world. In honour of the occasion, the Nova Sinfonietta Orchestra of Shanghai and the voices of tenor Li Jianlin, soprano Li Mengshi and baritone Wang Baopeng, with Maestro Roberto Fiore conducting, will play a selection of memorable pieces from the operas of great Italian masters including Giovanni Paisiello, Vincenzo Bellini, Gaetano Donizetti, Gioacchino Rossini, Giuseppe Verdi and Giacomo Puccini.
