The Embassy of Italy in Zambia has organized – for Wednesday, March 23 – a webinar entitled “ART and Architecture”, a hybrid event that coincides with the celebrations for the Day of Italian Design in the World. The main purpose of this initiative is to enhance Rome’s candidacy to host the EXPO 2030. The meeting is also the fourth of a series of five events conceived within the Project “Italia-Zambia, un Ponte fatto ad Arte”.
The first part of the event, held at the Italian-Zambian Cultural Centre in Lusaka, will be developed around the themes of architecture, design and urbanization and will see the participation, among others, of the Zambian Minister for Local Government and Rural Development, Gary G. Nkombo, and the Zambian Minister for Infrastructure, Real Estate and Urban Development, Charles Milupi. This will be followed by the official presentation of Rome’s candidacy by the Expo Rome 2030 Promoting Committee and the contribution of a Design Ambassador, Magda Minguzzi, together with other representatives of architecture in Zambia and Italy.
In the afternoon, the discussion will focus on the analysis of the relationship between architecture and art; a part curated by Costantino D’Orazio, curator at the Rome Cultural Heritage Agency, will include the participation of the Italian artist Domenico Bianchi and Paul L.K. Makasa who will discuss the links between art and architecture, drawing parallels between studios and urban projects and studies in Italy and Zambia.
