An exhibition on Leghorn-born painter Amedeo Modigliani has inaugurated the new venue of the Art Museum of Nakanoshima (Osaka), one of Japan’s most important ones. The event, sponsored by the Italian Cultural Institute of Osaka, took place on 9 April. The exhibition will be open to the general public until 18 July 2022.
The exhibition mainly displays Modigliani’s works included in Japanese and international collections and focuses on the new trends and the multifaceted artistic environment that developed in Paris during the period the Italian artist lived in the French capital, outlining the trends that resulted in his art.
Two events linked to this exhibition will be staged soon, still at the Nakanoshima Art Museum: on 11 June, a concert by Federico Agostini, Mauro Iurato and Giuseppe Mariotti entitled “Modigliani and the School of Paris”; and on June 25, a conference by Atsushi Okada.
