The Conference “Falcone e Borsellino, 30 anni dopo“, organized by the Italian Embassy in cooperation with the Italian Cultural Institute in Tirana and the Inland Revenue Police expert in Albania, aims to combine memories and current events in the fight against the Mafia and the culture that fuels it, promoting a pedagogy of active citizenship based on the ideals and principles enshrined in the Italian Constitution.
The initiative sees the participation of Senator Sandro Ruotolo; of Bernardo Petralia, former Attorney General of the Court of Appeal of Reggio Calabria; of Lieutenant-General Ignazio Gibilaro, Southern Italy’s Interregional Commander of the Guardia di Finanza (Inland Revenue Police); of Gaetano Calogero Paci, Deputy Prosecutor of the Reggio Calabria Anti-Mafia District Directorate; of Alessandra Camassa, President of the Marsala Court; of Don Giovanni Battista Tillieci, priest of the San Gaetano Catanoso parish in Gioia Tauro, the first church to be built on land confiscated from the Mafia.
During the Conference it will also be possible to listen – via online connection – to the contribution by Salvatore Borsellino, brother of the judge killed by the Mafia in the Via D’Amelio massacre. The discussion will be moderated by Giancarlo Costabile, Professor of History of Education to Democracy and Legality at the University of Calabria.
