The Copenhagen Italian Cultural Institute hosted the sole foreign leg of the 2022 Strega Tour. Six of the finalist authors of its LXXVI edition attended the meeting: Mario Desiati, Claudio Piersanti, Marco Amerighi, Veronica Raimo, Alessandra Carati and Veronica Galletta. It was held in Italian, with translation into Danish, and organised by Stefano Petrocchi, Director of the Bellonci Foundation and secretary of the Strega prize management panel.
Founded in 1947 by Maria and Goffredo Bellonci with the aim of launching a new literary prize to help the cultural revival in Italy after the second world war, the Strega Prize is awarded each year to an author for a work of prose fiction in Italian, published in Italy in previous months. The winner is declared by a jury comprising 660 voting members, including scholars, translators and Italian language and literature enthusiasts chosen by the Italian Cultural Institutes abroad. The winning book will be announced on Thursday, 7 July at the National Etruscan Museum of Villa Giulia in Rome from among: “Spatriati” by Mario Desiati; “Randagi” by Marco Amerighi; “Niente di vero” by Veronica Raimo; “Nova” by Fabio Bacà; “E poi saremo salvi” by Alessandra Carati and “Nina sull’argine” by Veronica Galletta.
