Italy was one of the key players at the TEJ-Tourism EXPO Japan 2022 in Tokyo, once again accessible in person after the two-year-long pandemic.

The 2022 edition was hosted at the Japanese capital’s Tokyo Big Sight Exhibition Centre, with the first two days dedicated to travel trade meetings and another two days open to the public. ENIT Tokyo’s ITALY stand extends over 162 square metres, making it one of the Trade Fair’s largest, capable of hosting Regional Administrations and public and private agencies with their own spaces, including the Regions of Lazio, Apulia, Basilicata, and the cities of Bologna and Modena.

On visiting the Italy Pavilion, Italian Ambassador Gianluigi Benedetti talked about relaunching tourism. He said: “We can say that all tourist activities are ready to kick off again after the Covid-caused suspension and this is very important for Italy. Our Country continues to be an incredible focus of attraction for Japanese tourism: before the pandemic, we recorded two and a half million overnight stays a year and we are working to target a larger number, also thanks to the resumption of direct airline connection with Ita Airways and its brand-new Airbus A350-900 airplanes.”
