Sustainability and clean energy sources to achieve carbon neutrality: this was the focus of an event organised by the Italian Embassy in Lisbon at the headquarters of the Community of the Portuguese Language Countries (CPLP), convening 500 Italian companies and nine of the Community’s Portuguese-speaking member Countries.
The workshop, titled “Renewable Energy Sources – Innovative Technologies and Cooperation Opportunities between Italy and Portuguese Language Countries”, was opened by the Italian Ambassador to Portugal, Carlo Formosa, and the Executive Secretary of the CPLP, Zacarias Albano da Costa, who underscored the importance of outlining long-term common strategies for the implementation of innovative projects designed according to the specific characteristics and needs of every single environment of reference.
The testimonials of the representatives of the large groups – including Enel and the Eni-Sonangol joint venture – that participated in the event and the contributions of several innovative SMEs present made it possible to highlight the role played by Italy’s advanced technology in developing success stories in the field of wind and solar energy in Brazil, Angola and Mozambique, all of which are Countries with a great potential of increasing the percentage of renewables in their energy mix. The experiences shared by the Italian companies made it possible to explore new challenges and solutions, promoting an exchange between the companies of participating Countries with the aim of singling out new business opportunities and partnerships.
