The Italian Embassy in Buenos Aires organised the Gran Chaco Fashion Show at the Palazzo Alvear there. This event gave Italian designer Daniela Gristina and Argentinian designer Marcelo Senra the opportunity to present couture fashion using traditional designs and fabrics from the Gran Chaco region like chaguar, a natural fabric made by indigenous communities.

The event – organised with the Museo Verde Association and the Gran Chaco Foundation, in association with the Gran Chaco Craftswomen Cooperative, and with the support of the International Italo-Latin American Organisation (IILA) – forms part of a project that transcends fashion and design and seeks to generate awareness on safeguarding the environment and promoting both female empowerment and alternative uses of natural resources to avoid deforestation.

The fashion show forms part of a number of initiatives aimed at showcasing and promoting cooperation between the Gran Chaco region and Italy, as part of the Team Europe work group of the European Union.
