Italy will be the first country to present and perform an artistic programme for two entire theatre seasons at the Teatro Colón in Buenos Aires. The programme, called Divina Italia, will run for the 2023 and 2024 theatre seasons and will feature a large number of Italian performances, (operas), artists and theatre productions ranging from opera to music, dance and ballet.
To seal the cooperation between the Theatre and Italy, the Director of the Italian Cultural Institute of Buenos Aires, Donatella Cannova, and the General Director of the Teatro Colón, Jorge Telerman, signed – in the presence of the Italian Ambassador to Argentina, Fabrizio Lucentini – a cooperation agreement aimed at strengthening the synergies between the two institutions in view of the Divina Italia seasons.
The Resurrection by Gustav Mahler, directed by Romeo Castellucci, will open the 2023 season of the Teatro Colón at (the) La Rural (venue), while other important events starring Italian artists (Italy) are scheduled throughout the year: these include, in March, Faust, directed by Stefano Poda and the Teatro Regio in Turin; between May and June, Caravaggio by Mauro Bigonzetti and Bruno Moretti, with ballet dancer Roberto Bolle; between September and October, La vedova allegra directed by Damiano Michieletto; and last but not least, theatre productions by the Rome Opera and the Teatro La Fenice in Venice. The music of Donizetti, Verdi, Rossini and Puccini will also be further strong reminders of Italy, in a very prestigious Italian-Argentine artistic partnership.
