On the occasion of the second National Space Day (16 December), a performance of music and readings by actor Bruno Lovadina and musicians Jacopo Gianninoto and Luca Chiavinato will be held in Bangkok, organised by the Italian Embassy in Bangkok in collaboration with the University of Padua, the University of Venice, Assumption University of Bangkok, the Municipality of Padua and Barco Teatro.
The performance will develop through a mix of Galileo’s writings and letters and lute music composed by Galileo’s father and brother, Vincenzo and Michelangelo Galilei, two of the greatest lute players of their generation, supplemented by some musical improvisations. The performance includes the projection of original visual art works produced by young local artists with their interpretation of Galileo’s life, with English subtitles.
The selected artists will prepare a visual work inspired by their interpretation of Galileo’s life. The work will be used as a background during the performance and for a mini-exhibition linked to the event. Afterwards, it will be exhibited in Padua for a repeat performance in collaboration with the University of Padua.
The event will also feature images forming part of the “Looking Beyond” exhibition, a photographic exhibition of satellite images from the COSMO-SkyMed constellation, which is the result of a collaboration with the Italian Space Agency (ASI) and Telespazio S.p.A. / e-Geos.
