The Italian Ambassador in Accra, Daniela d’Orlandi, and Director of the Italian Trade Agency (ICE) Office in Ghana, Alessandro Gerbino, opened – in the presence of the Ghana authorities – the Italian Pavilion set up at the 2022 Plastprintpack & Agrofood West Africa Trade Show, the main trade fair dedicated to the agro-industrial supply chain in the country.
In her address, Ambassador d’Orlandi emphasised Italy’s interest in playing a more active role as an economic and commercial partner of Ghana through technology that could effectively help contribute towards creating added value in the country. She also said that the increased trade between Italy and Ghana, which exceeded 500 million euros in 2021 and where capital goods are the mainstay of Italian exports, has already strengthened bilateral economic relations. She ended by saying that she hoped this event would help further expand the cooperation and commercial opportunities between companies in the two countries.

About 100 exhibiting companies from 20 different countries took part in the trade show, with various national pavilions including those from Germany, the Netherlands and South Africa. Italy attended in an official capacity for the first time, with an impressive pavilion organised by the Italian Trade Agency (ICE) along with the trade associations Amaplast, Acimga, Ucima and Anima/Assofoodtec. During the trade show, a number of b2b meetings were also held between Italian companies and potential local buyers, with the participation of official representatives and associations.
