On 19 April the Italian Cultural Institute of Tirana, in cooperation with Europe House, organises the first event of the cycle “Con altre parole” (In other words), a series of meetings and conversations with the most interesting voices of Italian fiction of Albanian origin. The first guest will be the writer Ornela Vorpsi, who will dialogue with Diana Kastrati, translator and Director of the National Centre for Arbëreshe Culture in Tirana, and Fabio Rocchi, University Professor and author of the monograph Le prime voci delI’italofonia albanese.

Ornela Vorpsi was born in Tirana. She studied Fine Arts in Albania and continued her education at the Brera Academy of Fine Arts in 1991. In 1997 she moved to Paris, completing her studies at the Université Paris VIII. She is a writer, photographer and painter. In Italy she published Il paese dove non si muore mai (Einaudi 2005), Vetri rosa (Nottetempo 2006), La mano che non mordi (Einaudi 2007), Bevete cacao Van Houten! (Einaudi 2010), Fuorimondo (Einaudi 2012), Viaggio intorno alla madre (Nottetempo 2015). In France she published the novel L’été d’Olta (Gallimard 2018). Her books have been translated into eighteen languages. The following ones have been translated into Albanian: Providence (Graphic Line-01 edition), Vendi ku nuk vdiset kurrë (Dudaj edition).
