Italy is participating as a guest country at the Morelia International Book and Reading Fair, which will offer a wide variety of activities from 22 September to 1 October, including literary presentations, exhibitions, workshops and film screenings, with the participation of 120 national and international publishing houses.
Italy’s presence, which is promoted by the Italian Cultural Institute of Mexico City, includes events related to its literary tradition. For the duration of the Fair, it will be possible to visit two exhibitions, one dedicated to the Inferno of the Divine Comedy represented in the drawings of Amos Nattini, the other dedicated to Pinocchio, a classic of children’s literature illustrated by Mimmo Paladino.
Italy will be represented by six Italian authors who have made Mexico their home: Guadalupe Alonso Coratella, Director of the Casa del Libro at UNAM; Fabrizio Cossalter, Italian essayist and publisher residing in Mexico and professor at the Universidad del Claustro de Sor Juana; Fernando Ibarra, Professor at the Philosophy and Literature of UNAM and great connoisseur of Italian literature, especially medieval and baroque; Enzia Verduchi, storyteller, poet and publisher; Claudia Marcucetti Pascoli, writer and cultural promoter; Marco Perilli, writer and essayist.
