The Italian support to 25 Kosovar tourist operators is the subject of a call for proposals launched by the NGO “Volunteers in the World RTM“, in the framework of the development cooperation project “NaturKosovo: the Natural and Cultural Capital in Kosovo and the Sustainable Tourist Development of the Via Dinarica“, financed by the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation (AICS) with the support of the Italian Embassy in Pristina.
The 25 pre-selected proposals, for a total budget of EUR 360,000, include initiatives aimed to renovate accommodation facilities and contain energy consumption, but also to buy agrifood machinery and safety devices for mountain sports activities. The pre-selected projects also include promotion initiatives, which will help to highlight the region’s natural, cultural and historical resources and promote its attractiveness to visitors.
The Italian Ambassador to Kosovo, Antonello De Riu, said: “The ultimate goal is to improve the quality of the tourist services offered, which will contribute to enhancing Kosovo’s riches, also thanks to the know-how that important Italian players, such as the Alpine Club, the Corpo Nazionale Soccorso Alpino e Speleologico and the Italian Association for Responsible Tourism, have transferred in these first two years of the project.”
With specific reference to the selection procedure, the Director of AICS Tirana, Stefania Vizzaccaro, underlined that “the quality of the proposals submitted has confirmed the positive impact of the entire project, thus bearing witness to the enthusiasm and commitment of the local communities in developing the tourist sector in their region”.
