The Ambassador of Italy to Poland, Luca Franchetti Pardo, hosted a meeting of the G7 Ambassadors at his residence yesterday, 29 January. The meeting was attended by the Polish Secretary of State, Marcin Mastalerek, Head of Cabinet of the President of the Republic, Andrzej Duda.

The Italian Ambassador outlined the priorities of the Italian G7 Presidency and stressed the importance of the Italy-Africa Summit that is being held in Rome. Minister Mastalerek assured that Poland, too, attaches great importance to Africa, which the President will visit again in the coming days.

During the talks, the main international crises were discussed, with a particular focus on Ukraine and the importance of continuing to provide all the necessary support to the country. The G7 Ambassadors and Minister Mastalerek also discussed European issues (with specific reference to the Polish Presidency in the first half of 2025), the EU-NATO relationship and the centrality of the transatlantic link, as well as the Indo-Pacific region. Ample space in the meeting was also devoted to the major challenges posed by climate change and the need to promote the defence of the rules-based international order.
