The Italian Embassy in Doha inaugurated on 14 May the exhibition “CONNECT-IT. Visioni per unire il mondo” (“CONNECT-IT. Visions to unite the world”), an integrated promotional initiative organised by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation in collaboration with the Italian association of private construction contractors ANCE (Associazione Nazionale Costruttori Edili) and with sector companies. The exhibition aims to showcase Italian excellence in the field of construction engineering to an international audience.
The project is part of the growth diplomacy action to support and promote Italian companies and know-how.
‘‘We are very enthusiastic about Doha being chosen as the first world venue to host CONNECT-IT. We are aware that our economies are highly interconnected, as is also demonstrated by the presence here today of Italy’s Deputy Minister of Enterprises and Made in Italy Valentino Valentini. The contribution of Italian companies to Qatar’s infrastructure development is central, especially in major projects such as the Doha Metro or the 2022 World Cup stadiums. Today we are not only celebrating the excellence of the Italian infrastructure industry, but also the strong and successful friendship between Italy and Qatar”, stated the Italian Ambassador in Doha Paolo Toschi.
Organised under the scientific curatorship of professor Tullia Iori and the artistic direction of Ludovico Pratesi and Marco Bassan of the Spazio Taverna association, the exhibition offers a multimedia journey that takes the visitor to the heart of major works realised by the Italian construction industry. The exhibition features unpublished shots by photographer Luca Campigotto, original literary texts by Emanuele Trevi and artistic videos by Gabriele Gianni and Michelangelo Lupone.
After being displayed in Qatar, the exhibition will continue its international tour supported by the network of Italian embassies, consulates and cultural institutes.
