From 4 to 6 June, the second edition of the Naples Conference on Cultural Heritage in the 21st Century will take place. This high-level UNESCO event is strongly supported by Italy with the aim of deepening the discussion and highlighting the progress made in the implementation of the principles outlined in the policy document “The Spirit of Naples”, unanimously adopted by the participants of the first edition in 2023. Italy continues to promote a holistic and human-centred approach in this field, ensuring that the protection and enhancement of cultural heritage serve as a vehicle for sustainable social and economic development.
Building on the outcomes of the first edition, the conference will explore concrete actions to strengthen the safeguarding of both tangible and intangible cultural heritage, identifying points of convergence and evaluating enhanced synergies between the two relevant UNESCO Conventions. Furthermore, the event will serve as an exceptional platform to provide timely and valuable contributions to the upcoming World Conference on Cultural Policies and Sustainable Development – MONDIACULT 2025.
With this second edition, and thanks to Italy’s leadership, the Naples Conference aspires to establish itself as a regular platform for reflection within the UNESCO framework, with the ambition of becoming a key reference point in the global debate on the most emblematic expressions of World Heritage for years to come.
