On 9 May, all the European Ambassadors accredited in Bolivia gathered to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the Robert Schuman Declaration and the 30 years of presence of the EU Delegation in La Paz.
In his welcome speech, the Head of the European Delegation underlined how the EU has proven over time to be a reliable partner, with the largest cooperation program in Bolivia, amounting to EUR 1, 600 million for the three-year period 2024-26.
The celebration will be organized in two weeks in the capital Sucre, on the occasion of the celebrations for the Bicentenary of Bolivia’s independence.
At the Film Library of La Paz, the screening of the Italian film “Io sto bene” by Domenico Rotunno was organized as part of the “Eurocine 2025” festival. The film, introduced by Amb. Fabio Messineo, deals with the theme of Italian emigration to Europe, comparing two generations and differentiating the integration problems that characterized the generation of the 60s and 70s with the motivations and methods that push today’s young people to go abroad.
During the month, many events are planned throughout the country, organized by the European Missions. In particular, on 17 May, our Embassy will participate – together with the local section of the Dante Alighieri Society – in the Notte Bianca dei Musei (the Long Night of Museums) in La Paz, while on May 28 the second concert “Serenata alla Repubblica” (Serenade for the Republic) will be held in the Gardens of the Italian Residence, during which the most famous arias of our operatic tradition will be performed together with pieces of famous soundtracks composed by Morricone, Piovani and Nino Rota.
