As part of the celebrations for the 80th anniversary of the Italian Republic, the Embassy of Italy, in collaboration with the Italian Cultural Institute, organized a tour of Greece for the musicians from the Accademia del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, one of the most prestigious institutions of the Italian operatic tradition.
The musicians enriched the reception hosted by the Embassy on June 2 at the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Centre, designed by Renzo Piano.
In the presence of approximately 1,500 guests, including Greek Minister of Tourism Olga Kefalogianni, Deputy Minister of Education Kostas Vlasis, Polish Secretary of State Ignacy Niemczycki, members of the Diplomatic Corps and of the Italian community, and representatives from the Greek economic and cultural world, the artists performed the Italian and Greek national anthems and a selection of famous opera arias.
