The fourth and final event of the “Italian Vibes. Sound of Youth in Tokyo” programme took place on 12 November at the auditorium of the Italian Cultural Institute in Tokyo. This series of four concerts spanned jazz, classical music, film scores, and opera, and was a huge success with Japanese audiences.
The program featured some of Rossini’s most famous arias from “The Barber of Seville,” “The Italian Girl in Algiers,” and “Cinderella,” alternating with refined piano pieces from the collection “Péchés de vieillesse.”
The Italian Vibes project, which aimed to promote the new generation of Italian musicians and performers under 35, was conceived and organized by the cultural association ItaliaFestival, chaired by Francesco Maria Perrotta, with the support of the Ministry of Culture and SIAE as part of the programme “Per Chi Crea“, in collaboration with the Italian Cultural Institute in Tokyo.
The stars of the evening, organized in collaboration with the Rossini Opera Festival – Accademia Rossiniana “Alberto Zedda”, were mezzo-soprano Marta Pluda and baritone Giuseppe De Luca, alumni of the prestigious Pesaro-based academy, accompanied on piano by Hayashi Naoki.
The evening was attended by Ernesto Palacio and Cristian della Chiara, General Manager and General Director of the Rossini Opera Festival, and Professors Carmen Santoro (Director of the Belcanto Opera Festival Japan) and Suzuki Tomoe (Showa University of Music), as evidence of the deep collaboration between Italian and Japanese institutions committed to promoting Italian culture and music.
