The “Sip of Italy” exhibition, dedicated to the world of coffee, explored in its many facets – sensory, social, and cultural – has opened in Bangkok at the Siam Paragon shopping mall.
The centerpiece of the event, organized by the Italian Embassy of Italy in Bangkok and the Italian Cultural Institute (in collaboration with Siam Paragon and NEXTOPIA), is the exhibition “Italian Passion: The Art of Espresso.” Presented by the IMF Foundation and EP studio, curated by Elisabetta Pisu with design by Distortion Studio, the exhibition traces the evolution of coffee as a universal symbol of Italian identity, a point of convergence between design, ritual, and environmental sustainability.
Over 40 iconic items by leading international designers are on display – ranging from Alessandro Mendini’s “Oggetto Banale” to Matteo Frontini’s “Turbo Moka” – alongside historic professional machines from MUMAC – the Museum of Coffee Machines by Cimbali Group. The exhibition will feature sensory and cooking experiences, in collaboration with local chefs and professionals.
Ambassador Paolo Dionisi attended the event’s opening, emphasizing the importance of coffee for the Italian economy and culture, as well as a vehicle for dialogue with the global community. The project is part of the programme “Italia Reloaded: Tradition, Aesthetics, and Innovation between Taste and Memory”, thanks to which the local Italian Cultural Institute, in close collaboration with the Embassy, was among the winners of the competition “Capitals of Italian Creativity in the World”.
