The Prague delegation of the Italian Academy of Cuisine organized a dinner at the Chamber of Deputies of the Czech Parliament on June 10, in collaboration with the Parliamentary Friendship Group chaired by Hon. Vojtech Munzar, with the patronage of the Embassy of Italy in Prague and the support of COMITES and CAMIC.
Approximately sixty guests attended the event, including twenty MPs and the Heads of Mission from Brazil, Peru, and Spain. Ambassador Alessandro Gaudiano emphasized the value of culinary culture as practices, rituals, and conviviality capable of bringing people together and strengthening relations between Italy and the Czech Republic, also recalling the inclusion of Italian cuisine in UNESCO’s List of Intangible Cultural Heritage.
The First Vice President of the Chamber, Hon. Patrik Nacher, and the President of the Parliamentary Friendship Committee, Hon. Vojtech Munzar, emphasized the friendship between the two countries, while the President of the CAMIC, Danilo Manghi, highlighted the economic importance of Italian gastronomy.
The evening – featuring fish dishes prepared by Tuscan chef Lorenzo Cortesi – was hosted by Academician Claudio Pocci, the Academy’s delegate for the Czech Republic. Ambassador Gaudiano was presented with the Association’s pin and insignia, a gesture accompanied by a reference to the mission of the Academy, founded in 1953 by Orio Vergani to protect Italian gastronomic traditions and the food and dining culture.
