Italy’s participation, as guest of honour, at the 42nd Foire du Livre in Brussels (1-5 March) has come to a successful conclusion. The Italian Pavilion – to which the President of the Republic, Giorgio Napolitano, sent a message of best wishes – was the heart of Italy’s participation in the Fair. The “Literary Café” hosted meetings with numerous Italian authors featured in the official programme of the event. With 70,000 visitors, and over 1000 publishing houses taking part, the Brussels event is second in importance in the French-speaking world, after the Paris Fair.
Italy’s writing community was represented by about 30 authors: Michela Murgia, Giuseppe Schillaci, Marcello Fois, Gianrico Carofiglio, Stefano Benni, Antonio Pennacchi, Simonetta Agnello Hornby, Antonella Anedda, Andrea Bajani, Michele Mari, Gianni Riotta, Diego Marani and Caterina Bonvicini, to name just some.
