Training in an international sphere is the subject of an agreement signed at the Farnesina by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Italian Society for International Organization (Italian initials SIOI). The convention was signed by the Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Michele Valensise, and the President of the SIOI, Franco Frattini. It will allow SIOI students to take part in curriculum-related placements in Italian Embassies or Consulates abroad.
The agreement follows a previous one signed on 11 June 2015 by the Ministry for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, the Ministry for Education, Universities and Research, and the CRUI Foundation, offering the same opportunities to students from Italian universities taking part in the initiative.
“The new programme for internships in our missions abroad will give SIOI students a chance to take a direct part in the work of our offices. It’s a key formative experience, of particular benefit to those wishing to embark on a diplomatic career or work in international organisations”, underscored Ambassador Valensise.
“I’m sure that after following an SIOI training course, our young people will grasp these opportunities for first-hand experience of the world of international relations with great enthusiasm. Thanks to this agreement, our young people will have significant potential for growth and the further development of their skills”, commented Franco Frattini.
