Presentation of the study “The Supply Chain of Italy’s Electricity System”

As part of the economic diplomacy activities, today the Farnesina hosts the presentation of the study “The Supply Chain of Italy’s Electricity System: an international excellence combining innovation, sustainability and shared vision”, conducted by the LUISS University Business School. At the presentation, Elettricità Futura, Italy’s major association in the electricity industry, will take stock of the energy sector in Italy and, together with the institutional players supporting the internationalisation of Italian enterprises, will explore the opportunities offered by foreign emerging markets.

The electricity industry is the sector that has undergone the deepest and most sudden developments in the past few years. Our companies have succeeded in taking advantage of the drivers of change, also thanks to “green” investments on power production technologies from renewable energy sources and on energy efficiency. From 2009 we have also witnessed a broader presence of the Italian energy sector abroad. Last year, Italian companies were involved in 79 overseas operations entailing the production of 11,000MW and accounting for 82% of total new investments estimated to be worth 9.7 billion euros.
