The Italian Embassy in Pretoria, with the Italian Institute of Culture, the General Consulate of Italy in Johannesburg, the Italian Consulate in Cape Town and the Italian Embassy in Zimbabwe, present  “The Italian Film Focus in Southern Africa 2021” on the MYmovies platform.

The 21st edition of the Italian Film Festival will be held from December 3rd to 16th, 2021, on the online MYmovies platform, geolocalized for South Africa, Namibia, Botswana and Zimbabwe. The program will consist of 11 premium Italian films presented at the most important international festivals of 2021, and acclaimed by the public. All the movies will be introduced by a brief presentation of the director or one of the actors. The audience can interact on the dedicated chat line. The program will open on December 3 at 6:45 p.m. with the sweeping view of Neapolitan popular theater that is “Qui rido io” by Mario Martone. The film will be preceded by the presentation of the president of Controluce, Antonio Falduto, and Fabio Ferzetti, the movie critic from “L’Espresso”; as well as the recorded greeting of the director, Mario Martone.

On Saturday December 4, the film will be Nanni Moretti’s, “Tre piani” (Three Floors), based on the novel of the same name by the Israeli writer Eshkol Nevo. The film will be introduced by one of the actors and by Oscar Cosulich, movie critic for “Il Mattino”. On Sunday December 5, viewers will be able to see “Ariaferma” by Leonardo Di Costanzo, with Toni Servillo and Silvio Orlando. Also in this case, there will be a recorded greeting from the director, preceded by the live presentation by Flavio Natalia, director of the magazine “Ciak”. From 9:30 p.m. on Friday December 3, the other eight movies will be available on the platform, a kaleidoscope of contemporary situations and characters ranging from the north to the south of Italy and different genres, from the popular and well-tested formula of popular comedies like “Come un gatto in tangenziale – Ritorno a Coccia di Morto” by Riccardo Milani, to the romantic intimacy of “Lei mi parla ancora” by Pupi Avati.
