| Competence and Tasks | The Directorate General for Growth and Export Promotion is responsible for the following tasks: a) ensures – in agreement with the other competent Directorates General, including through the network of foreign offices – the overall coherence of the promotion, support, and enhancement activities of the country and all its components abroad; b) promotes the dissemination of Italian science, technology, and creativity abroad, including through the coordination of the network of scientific and space attachés, and handles matters pertaining to the competent international organizations in the scientific and technological fields; c) handles matters within the Foreign Ministry’s remit relating to space and aerospace d) promotes – while respecting the responsibilities of other State administrations and in agreement with them, including in relation to their respective reference bodies – the internationalization of the country system and manages relations with Italian manufacturing companies and their trade associations, as well as with the Regions and other local authorities regarding their activities abroad; e) promotes and develops, in agreement with the other competent State administrations, initiatives aimed at supporting the activities of Italian companies abroad and encouraging foreign investment in Italy; f) participates in the activities and coordinates with Italian law entities and organizations that perform tasks related to credit and investment abroad; g) deals with matters falling within the jurisdiction of international organizations for economic and trade cooperation and those relating to the protection of intellectual property; h) promotes Italian language and Italian culture abroad, including through the management of the network of Italian Cultural Institutes; i) manages the Ministry’s activities relating to scholarships and school and academic exchange programs; l) deals with issues relating to culture in relations with international entities and organizations, without prejudice to the Ministry of Culture’s powers in the recovery of cultural assets belonging to the national cultural heritage that have been illegally exported abroad; m) adopts appropriate initiatives to facilitate the work of foreign professors and researchers at Italian universities and research institutions, as well as the work of Italian professors and researchers at foreign universities and research institutions. |
