COOPERA 2022 – 2nd edition of the National Development Cooperation Conference

COOPERA 2022 – 2° Conferenza Nazionale della Cooperazione allo Sviluppo

On Thursday 23 June and Friday 24 June, Rome’s Auditorium della Conciliazione will host the 2nd National Development Cooperation Conference that, pursuant to Law 125/2014, is convened every three years by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation to foster the participation of citizens in defining development cooperation policies. The Conference, titled CO-OPERA 2022, is co-organized by the Directorate General for Development Cooperation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MAECI) and the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation, with RAI national broadcasting network as Media Partner. The public will be able to access the conference after registering on the www.conferenzacoopera.it website.

The event will begin with opening remarks by the Italian President of the Republic, Sergio Mattarella and the Minister of Foreigmailto:https://www.conferenzacoopera.itn Affairs and International Cooperation Luigi Di Maio. The opening session will schedule contributions by the Vatican Secretary of State, Cardinal Pietro Parolin, representatives of the European Commission, of UNICEF, and of Italian civil society organizations in Burkina Faso.The Conference’s following sessions will continue with 5 Panels on the 5 Ps of the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development (Peace, Persons, Prosperity, Planet, Partnership) and, in the light of the present international scenario, with a special focus on Peace.

The Panels will be attended by the competent Ministers for each subject as well as speakers from the Italian Development Cooperation System, representatives of the civil society of partner Countries, and top-ranking figures from international organizations and think-tanks.

The CO-OPERA Conference will also be enriched with side events organized by civil society organizations, universities, and other members of the Italian Development Cooperation System, as well as with quick and incisive individual “Coopera Talks” on specific facts, experiences, and ideas. On 24 June, the Conference will close with remarks by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Marina Sereni.

The Conference will offer an important opportunity to evaluate and inform the broad public of the priorities and initiatives promoted by the development cooperation and humanitarian aid service. At the same time, it will represent a forum of debate, proposals, and stimulus for all the players recognized as active cooperation professionals comprising the Italian Development Cooperation System under Law 125/2014.

All the working sessions, including the side-events and the Coopera Talks, will be broadcast in live streaming on Coopera’s official website: https://www.conferenzacoopera.it/.

Journalists, photographers and TV crews interested, will be able to attend the Plenary Session in person. The organization will also make available a limited-capacity press room with an audiovisual connection to the working sessions.

Journalists, photographers and TV crews interested in covering the event may apply for accreditation by 1:00 PM on Wednesday, 22 June, VIA E-MAIL to: accreditamentostampa@esteri.it, (Tel: +39 06/3691.3432 – 06/3691.8573), attaching thereto:

  • their ID card;
  • a letter of their media organization and, in case of freelance professionals, their press card;
  • (for members of the foreign press) also a Note Verbale released by the Rome Embassy of the media organization’s Country.

The media representatives who will have received confirmation of their accreditation, will be able to access the Auditorium della Conciliazione, from the entrance on Piazza Pia n. 1, as follows:

On Thursday, 23 June

  • from 08:00 AM and by no later than 09:15 AM (for journalists, photographers and TV crews wishing to cover the opening session in the Plenary Hall)
  • from 11:15 AM to the closing of the conference (7:30 PM) for all accredited media representatives.

On Friday, 24 June

  • from 9:00 AM to the closing of the conference (6:30 PM) for all accredited media representatives
