The Italian Cooperation is starting up a new project in Djibouti, with the approval of €2.2 million in funding for the promotion of maternal-infant healthcare, with special emphasis on the issue of female genital mutilation. The programme, now in its launching stage, will train approximately 300 public socio-healthcare workers over a three-year period, with the benefit going to 20% of the populations of both Djibouti and neighbouring Somalia. The initiative’s executor will be the INMP, an institution associated with the hospital of San Gallicano.
