The ceremony for the laying of the foundation stone of the planned Ferrero factor in the industrial cluster at Manisa, a town about 30km from Izmir, took place on 4 March 2012.
Already present in the local market with a number of products, most notably “Nutella”, Ferrero has now decided to produce in Turkey. The investment of 90 million euros will see operations in the new 163,000 square-metre plant begin in early 2013. The new facility will initially employ 200 workers for the production of traditional Ferrero products, 40% of which will be exported, and rRecruitment procedures will be starting soon.
The 4 March ceremony was held in the presence of Turkey’s Deputy Prime Minister, Bulent Arin, the President of the Investment Agency, Ilker Ayci, and Ambassador Carlo Marsili, Ferrero’s representative for Turkey.
During his speech, the Deputy Prime Minister underscored that, thanks to major legislative reforms, Turkey has gained and built on the confidence of the business community. The country has attracted foreign capital averaging more than 15 billion euros per year, with the industrial cluster at Manisa acquiring a global reputation as home to major companies like Indesit, Bitron and now Ferrero. Ambassador Marsili announced that Ferrero also intends to investment in social initiatives.
