An Italian Cooperation flight carrying a shipment of humanitarian relief to Yemen arrived in Sana’a on Saturday 24 March with 35 tonnes of goods (medicines, general foodstuffs, blankets) to respond to the most urgent humanitarian needs of the Yemenite population.
The Embassy of Italy in Sana’a, with the collaboration of the International Migration Organisation, saw to distribution of the aid to more vulnerable segments of the population such as women and children.
The operation, valued at approximately €130,000, is Italy’s concrete gesture of concern for the population of Yemen, where a serious humanitarian crisis continues and where the United Nations has estimated 465,000 displaced persons, 216,000 refugees and precarious access to medical treatment.
