“The excellent collaboration between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Bank of Italy has made it possible to illustrate the fundamentals of the Italian economy and the measures adopted by the Monti Government to revitalise ‘System Italy’ to best effect in the major global financial cities”. These were the words of Minister Giulio Terzi in his address to the 5th Conference of Bank of Italy Financial Attachés accredited abroad, which is being held in the Bank’s headquarters at Palazzo Koch.
The Conference, which is taking place today, 27 March 2012, “confirms the excellent collaboration between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Bank of Italy. A model of joint action by different organisations in the strategic sector of promoting the Italian economy and financial system abroad”.
“It is thanks to structured activity through the network of Financial Attachés in our embassies and consulates”, continued Terzi, “that we have been able to illustrate the fundamentals of the Italian economy and the measures adopted by the Monti Government to revitalise ‘System Italy’ to best effect in the world’s major financial cities”.
The conference is divided into 3 sessions. One will focus on the debt crisis in Europe and its international repercussions (especially as regards the perception of the crisis abroad). A second will examine the internationalisation of “System Italy”, and the third the geopolitical situation in the Mediterranean/Middle East and its economic aspects.
The opening addresses will be given by the Governor of the Bank of Italy, Ignazio Visco, and Minister Terzi. The conclusions will be presented by the Director General of the Bank, Fabrizio Saccomanni, and the MFA’s Director General for Global Affairs, Giandomenico Magliano.
Also taking part in the Conference will be representatives of the Ministry for the Economy and Finance, the Ministry for Economic Development, SIMEST, SACE, (ex) ICE, Confindustria, ABI, Invitalia, ISTAT, Cassa Depositi e Prestiti, Assocamere, Unioncamere, and of major groups (Unicredit, Intesa San Paolo, Mediobanca, Banco Popolare e Finmeccanica).
