JORDAN – Exceptional discovery by Italian restorers at the Qasr Amra site

The Jordanian press has devoted ample space to the exceptional discovery at the Qasr Amra site by the team from the Ministry for Culture and Heritage’s Higher Institute for Conservation and Restoration. Qasr Amra is a Jordanian castle that in 1985 obtained UNESCO World Heritage status. The restoration work by the Italian team has brought to light an inscription with the name of the prince who commissioned the construction of the castle, which served as a court and hunting reserve for the princes and caliphs of the Umayyad dynasty. The inscription reads “Oh God! Give Walid Ibn Yazid the gift of virtue!”. Read more, in Italian.
