Terzi-Clinton meeting on 12 October in Washington – Agenda: Syria, Iran, Afghanistan and bilateral relations

The most pressing international events and excellent Italy/US bilateral relations will top the agenda of Minister Giulio Terzi’s meeting in Washington on Friday 12 October with US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. The meeting at Foggy Bottom, the second in 8 months, will offer an opportunity to review bilateral cooperation in areas ranging from support for the Arab Spring transitions to prospects for the Syrian crisis, the Iranian nuclear question, the status of the Middle East peace process and developments in Afghanistan.


The Year of Italian Culture in the United States


Ample space will also be dedicated during the meeting to bilateral relations, ahead of the Year of Italian Culture in the United States planned for 2013, which will take the form of a year-long series of events, to be held in numerous American cities highlighting everything from art to scientific and technological research and applications. The aim will be to underscore the extraordinary contribution of Italian’s and their descendents to the development of the United States and to the deep and historic ties that bind the two nations.
