NEW YORK – 30 years of the De Fornaris Foundation, collection on display

To celebrate its 30th anniversary, the De Fornaris Foundation has organised an exhibition showing some of the best pieces from its collection of modern and contemporary art. The event is being staged in collaboration with the Italian Cultural Institute in New York and Turin’s Gallery of Modern Art (GAM).

The exhibition, which will run from 12 December 2012 until 11 January 2013, includes oils, water colours and drawings by Giorgio Morandi and Felice Casorati, two key figures in 20th century Italian art. Part of the cultural programme for the Year of Italian Culture in the United States, the show will be hosted by the Cultural Institute. On display on the ground floor will be two oils, five water-colours and six drawings by Morandi, while the first floor will have oils by Casorati.


International symposium at the Guggenheim


An international symposium on museums and collections in Italy in the last 30 years was held at the Guggenheim Museum in New York on 10 December. Taking part were Germano Celant, artistic director of the Prada Foundation; Danilo Eccher, Director of the GAM; the Mayor of Turin, Piero Fassino; Vivien Greene, Guggenheim curator; and Giuseppe Penone, artist.
