Terzi in New York – UN and Syria on the agenda, meeting with Ban Ki-Moon

Syria, the UN and cultural and economic promotion will be the principal themes of Minister for Foreign Affairs Giulio Terzi’s mission to New York Monday and Tuesday. Meeting at the UN with Secretary General Ban Ki-moon and President of the UN General Assembly Vuk Jeremic to discuss the Syrian crisis, he will illustrate the results of the February 28 meeting in Rome whose participants included UN Secretary of State John Kerry and President of the Syrian Opposition Coalition Mouaz al-Khatib.


Security Council reform


The meetings at the UN will also offer an opportunity to discuss UN Security Council reforms, in light of the results of the international ministerial meeting “New Approaches to the Security Council Reform” held at the Italian foreign ministry on February 4th.


While in New York Minister Terzi will also participate in meetings devoted to the cultural and economic promotion of Italy. His appointments will include a meeting of economic-financial world representatives at the International Economic Alliance, chaired by Ambassador Thomas Pickering.


The minister’s agenda also includes a visit to an exhibition mounted by the Frick Collection on Piero della Francesca, part of a rich calendar of events planned around the country within the context of the Year of Italian Culture in the USA.
