CULTURE – many Italian Olympic Athletes

The Italian language olympics have lots of “athletes” in the Italian schools abroad competing on-line – some of whom have scored as high as 90% – from countries ranging from Colombia to the United States, from Iran to Nigeria, Spain and France. Aimed at the promotion and dissemination of the Italian language abroad, the first round was held on 6 March, and the semi-final will be held on 5 April for the selection of the “Italo-olympians” to participate in the national finals on 27 April. The project was conceived by the Ministry of Education, Universities and Research with the collaboration of the foreign ministry and its network abroad, and with the support of the City of Florence, the Accademia della Crusca and the Association for the History of the Italian Language (ASLI).
