Prime Minister and interim Foreign Minister Mario Monti, in London to participate in the meeting of G8 foreign ministers, met with interim Prime Minister of Syria Ghassan Hitto. Monti assured Hitto that Italy, one of the first countries to recognise the coalition as the only legitimate representative of the Syrian people, will continue to ensure its political support.
