Country Promotion: MFA wins Euromediterranean Award for Infomercatiesteri project

The Ministry for Foreign Affairs has received the Euromediterranean Award 2013 for the www.infomercatiesteri.it portal, judged to be one of Europe’s best institutional projects for business support. The prize was awarded during a Cloud Communication forum in Rome, organised by Confindustria Assafrica & Mediterraneo, the business confederation’s Africa and Mediterranean division.

Infomercatiesteri is an innovative, free platform designed to meet the Italian business community’s demand for information on foreign markets, explained Vincenzo Ercole, from the MFA’s Country Promotion Directorate, as he received the prize.

Analyses by diplomatic network in collaboration with ICE, ENIT and Chambers of Commerce

The portal draws on analyses by Italian embassies and consulates in collaboration with ICE, the trade promotion agency; ENIT, the national tourism board; and Italian Chambers of Commerce. “Over 105 countries have been analysed, with the focus on the euro-Mediterranean region, which is a priority of Italy”, continued Ercole. However, there is room too for emerging economies (from Azerbaijan to Burma). Initial results are “encouraging”, he added, with over 32,400 users in just over two months since the portal was launched.
