MONACO-PORTOFINO: Italy champions charity also at sea

The 2013 – and 2nd – edition of the Monaco-Portofino sailing regatta was a resounding success. The more than 30 participating Italian vessels were led by the Italian Navy’s historic ships Orsa Maggiore, Stella Polare, Corsaro II, Caroly, Chaplin and Sagittario. Proceeds from this year’s event will go to the Marafiki Primary School on Kenya’s Kadaina Island. The institution comprises a nursery school, elementary and secondary schools, a 24-hour outpatient clinic, two dormitories, a library with computer room, a canteen with government standard kitchen and a church, and it hosts 500 children of all ages, some of whom are orphans.
