Saudi Arabia’s Arriyadh Development Authority (ADA) has selected the two consortia that will supervise the construction works for the new metropolitan railway in Riyadh. One is Riyadh Metro Transit Consultants (RMTC), a joint venture between the US Parsons and the French companies Egis Rail and Systra, which will be responsible for lines 1, 2, and 3. The other is Riyadh Advanced Metro Project Execution & Delivery (RAMPED), a joint venture between Berger and Hill International. The two contracts are worth 556 and 170 million dollars respectively.
Overall, the Saudi capital’s new network will extend for 176 kilometres and have 87 stations. At the end of June, ADA announced the consortia selected to plan and build the works. The contracts for lines 1 and 2 (partly underground and partly overground) were awarded to the consortium led by Bechtel and which includes Almabani General Contractors, Consolidated Contractors Company and Siemens. The investment is expected to amount to 9.45 million dollars.
Line 3 (5.2 billion dollars) will be built by the Ansaldo and Bombardier groups (plant engineering and trains) and a consortium that includes Salini-Impregilo, Larsen & Toubro and Nesma (infrastructure). The other 3 lines will be built by the FAST consortium led by the Spanish FCC group, which includes C&T, Alstom, Strukton, Freyssinet, Typsa and Setec. The investment is expected to amount to 7.8 billion dollars. (Source: infoMercatiEsteri). Read more, in Italian.
