WASHINGTON: 12th anniversary of 9/11: The embassy observes a minute of silence

In honour of the 12th anniversary of the terrorist attacks of 11 September 2011, the Embassy of Italy in Washington DC and all the Italian diplomatic/consular staff observed a moment of silence to commemorate the thousands of victims at the World Trade Center and the Pentagon and in Pennsylvania, many of whom were Italo-Americans. Italian ambassador in Washington Claudio Bisogniero also recalled the terrorist attack in Benghazi on 11 September 2012 that took the lives of 4 Americans, including U.S. Ambassador to Libya Chris Stevens, whom he called “Italy’s great friend”.
