Peru – Under-Secretary Giro on visit to discuss wide range of issues

The Under-Secretary for Foreign Affairs, Mario Giro, has embarked on a visit to Peru that will cover a wide range of issues. He will have meetings with the President of Peru, Ollanta Humala, and with the ministers of Culture, Production, and Foreign Trade. The Under-Secretary will also be addressing the Congress, and will visit the Italian Cultural Institute in Lima for discussions with Italian entrepreneurs in the country. Another engagement in his diary is the biodiversity forum on “Diversity and Prosperity for All”.

Italy-Latin America Conference and Expo 2015

The key themes for discussion will be President Humala’s participation in the 6th Italy-Latin America Conference, which will be taking place in Rome in December, and Peru’s participation in Expo Milano 2015. On this front, Giro and the Peruvian ministers will also discuss the creation of a permanent pavilion for Peru at the Venice Biennale.

Cooperation between Rome and Lima in the archaeological sector will also be explored. Indeed, the last few years have seen a boom in the sector, thanks to the use of the latest technologies that Italy has made available to Peru for use in monitoring and protecting the historic and cultural heritage.
