South Sudan: Investment conference, 4-5 December 2013

The government of South Sudan, in collaboration with the South Sudan Investment Authority, is organising an investment conference in Juba on 4-5 December 2013. The conference is expected to be the most important economic promotion event held in the country since it gained its independence.

Opening the two-day event will be the President of the Republic, Salva Kiir. The conference will take the form of sessions focusing on 5 priority sectors selected according to South Sudan’s economic potential and its added value with respect to neighbouring countries. They are: agriculture, infrastructure, hydrocarbons and mining, and tourism.

A key aim of the event is to illustrate opportunities in the South Sudanese market to regional and international investors by examining the national macro-economic situation. The conference will also study the government’s policies and its planned reforms to foster new investment. The overall theme of the event will be the diversification of South Sudan’s economy, at present 90% dependent on oil. Source: infoMercatiEsteri.
