Diplomazia Economica/Sole 24 Ore -Germany: Agritechnica displays 2nd millennium farming in Hannover

Agritechnica 2013, the world’s leading professional agriculture trade fair, held at Hannover’s Ferien Messe, scored a noteworthy success with 2,900 displayers from 47 countries and over 450,000 visitors (112,000 from abroad). The image that emerged from the most advanced nations redefines the role of agriculture in the future: no longer tractor-driven, but equipped with laptop computers linked in a network geared to measure production status. Italy made a substantial showing with 368 displaying firms and a large stand set up by sector federation FEDER-UNACOMA. The event is considered a must (despite its high cost) by many of our country’s firms, which export the majority of their products, up to 90-95%. Italy also made a good showing in the key sector of tractors and harvesting machinery (better than that of Germany) with New Holland Case (12 billion euro in 2012 turnover), second after John Deere (20,86 billion euro) and ahead of Agco (7.68 billion), Kubotoa (6.76 billion), Claas (3.38 billion), with Same-Deutz-Fahr di Treviglio (1.9 billion) coming in at 6th place. The next event will be held in Italy from 12 to 16 November 2014 with the EIMA of Bologna, which alternates with Hannover.
