Web and foreign policy. The challenges of diplomacy 2.0

How have web and social media transformed diplomacy? The 12th instalment of “Diplomazia e dintorni”, on -air this evening, Tuesday 21, January on RadioLuiss.it will seek to answer that question and examine the risks and advantages of digital diplomacy. The programme, conducted by Minister Plenipotentiary and Director of the Diplomatic Institute Stefano Baldi, will feature the contribution of Antonio Deruda, communications consultant and author of the book “Diplomazia digitale”, who will be interviewed in the course of the programme.

Guest Antonio Deruda, author of “Diplomazia digitale”

In his book, Deruda examines the challenges that digital diplomacy poses in terms of the services and instruments that the web has made available. It is a well known fact by now that the web and social media have profoundly changed the way governments and institutions interact with citizens. These transformations inevitably also influence foreign policy and the type of communication that diplomats are called upon to engage in as representatives of their countries. On the same theme, Stefano Baldi has also created a TEDx entitled “Diplomat 2.0: Tradition and Innovation”. This evening, against the usual jazz background, Baldi and Deruda will discuss the topic from a broad range of perspectives.
