Niger – Future customs police officers trained in Italy

The training course organised at the Finance Police’s Training and Specialisation Centre (CAS) in Orvieto for customs police officers from the Republic of Niger has come to a close. The course ran from 13 to 30 January. Organised in collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, it was designed to strengthen the institutions in countries deemed to be of strategic and priority importance from the perspective of Italy’s support for Africa. In view of its geographical position, Niger is of particular significance with respect to illegal trafficking in that region of Africa, with repercussions for our own country.

Five years of CAS courses

For 5 years now, the CAS has been organising courses for police forces and law enforcement agencies operating in the customs sector in: Macedonia, Somalia, Afghanistan (3 courses), Angola, Mali, Kenya, Mauritania, Nigeria (2 courses) Mozambique and Lebanon (2 courses).

Similar courses are also planned for the future. One, organised in collaboration with the Government of the United States for officials from the Republic of Haiti, has won praise from the United Nations. Read more, in Italian.
