President of the Region of Lombard Roberto Maroni flew to Geneva with a delegation to visit the European Centre for Nuclear Research (CERN), the world’s largest particle physics laboratory and an international organisation that has confirmed it will join the UN and the EU as a participant in the 2014 Milan Expo. In addition to a visit to the particle accelerator and laboratories, the plan includes a round table discussion intended to focus on strengthened collaboration; accords in the fields of technological transfers and applied research are also to be signed.
