The best of Italian cinema is coming to France thanks to an agreement between RAI Cinema and the Italian Cultural Institute in Paris, which yesterday evening hosted the first in a long series of screenings of feature and documentary films (scheduled to run through October) co-produced over recent years by RAI Cinema. Audiences will be able to appreciate works by Giuliano Montaldo, Ferzan Ozpetek, Gabriele Salvatores. E, ancora, Ettore Scola, Marco Bellocchio, Gianni Amelio, Gianfranco Rosi, Daniele Luchetti and even Pierfrancesco Diliberto – better known as “Pif”. A total of thirteen films make up the calendar of “Un été italien”, created and promoted by the Italian Cultural Institute under the direction of Marina Valensise.
Project to travel to other European countries
“We wanted to begin in Paris”, announced Paolo Del Brocco, CEO of RAI Cinema, “with a project that will move on to other European countries in collaboration with various national and international institutes and institutions”. Nicola Claudio, President of RAI Cinema, underscored how “Italian cinema has always been an important vehicle for culture that has distinguished Italy around the world and earned accolades everywhere, even in recent years”. Yesterday evening’s initial screening was Giuliano Montaldo’s “L’industriale” (with Carolina Crescentini and Pierfrancesco Favino), which was released in Italy in 2012. All screenings will be held at the Italian Cultural Institute in Paris at 19:30.19.30.
